Amid international scrutiny for human rights violations, China’s efforts to present Xinjiang as a tourist destination, calling it a cover-up for Uyghur repression.
Prominent activist Salih Hudayar stated that China is using this strategy to attract millions of Chinese tourists to East Turkistan in an attempt to hide its policies of colonization, genocide, and occupation. Hudayar urged the international community not to be deceived by China’s propaganda and emphasized that China must be held accountable for the Uyghur genocide. Serious evidence of human rights violations in East Turkistan continues to emerge, highlighting the extent of the repression in the region.
