Swedish Uyghur Committee Criticizes China’s Propaganda
The Swedish Uyghur Committee (SUK) has accused the Chinese government of spreading a false narrative that Uyghurs in East Turkistan are being “reeducated” to combat terrorism. The SUK claims this propaganda is a distortion of reality, aimed at concealing China’s true agenda against the Uyghurs.
According to the SUK, the so-called “reeducation centers” are, in reality, a network of concentration camps where millions of Uyghurs are subjected to systematic erasure of their cultural and religious identity. The committee describes this as a state-sanctioned campaign of genocide, colonization, and forced assimilation, rather than an effort to combat extremism.
The SUK highlighted a case where a 15-year-old Uyghur girl was labeled a terrorist and sent to reeducation, calling it a fabrication that reveals the extent of China’s oppressive machinery. They assert that these actions are not about national security but a deliberate strategy to erase Uyghur existence.
The SUK also criticizes the Chinese government for using coerced Uyghur testimonies in state-sponsored propaganda and dismissing reports of atrocities as “Western media lies.” The committee urges the international community to recognize China’s actions in East Turkistan as part of a broader strategy of genocide and colonization, emphasizing the urgent need for decisive global action before Uyghur culture is lost.
